La Cita opened its doors in Downtown Los Angeles and never looked back. Located at 336 S Hill Street in the heart of DTLA, it's become one of the city's most beloved neighborhood bars — a rare thing in a neighborhood that keeps changing around it. The vibe is unapologetically Mexican-American: portrait of the Virgin Mary behind the bar, neon signs, cold beer, strong margaritas. Thursdays bring live mariachi. Friday and Saturday nights, the DJ takes over and the dance floor fills. The crowd is mixed, the drinks are reasonably priced, and there's never a dress code.
